Bauwelt is the opinion leader among German architectural publications. It is intellectual, elitist, critical, purist, incisive – and always up to date. However, its design had become slightly dated so a new one was needed.
The new design had to reflect what Bauwelt represents as a brand: High standards, clarity and self confidence. And it had to take changing reading habits into account.

By improving the categorisation and increasing the number of places for readers to enter the text, Edenspiekermann’s redesign allows access to the magazine in many different ways.
The revival of the company’s brand colour yellow in an otherwise black and white environment reinforces Bauwelt’s reputation as a magazine for contemporary architecture. While in the past yellow was used somewhat reticently, it is now the main underlying and unifying design theme.

Bauwelt as an all-round trendsetter – this is its new presence on the market. Its readers have praised the new look and rewarded it with increased subscription rates.

The design concept developed by Edenspiekermann won the IF Communication Design Award in 2007.
