The future of retail is a topic that’s no stranger to us. We’ve talked about it before, and we believe smart digital solutions can improve customer experience and help brands stay relevant. That’s why we’re proud to see one of our clients, WineStein, leading the market in in-store interactive wine recommendation systems.

Last year we helped WineStein, the world’s smartest digital sommelier, develop a complete (and award-winning) digital ecosystem. We worked together on an in-store app, a restaurant app, an API for webshops, and a new smartphone app. The system recommends the perfect wine for the dish, occasion, or tastes of the customer. By combining knowledge from scientists and experts in wine and food together with self-learning algorithms, the already spot-on recommendations keep getting better and quicken the buying process.

WineStein’s interactive wine advice system has been installed in multiple stores of Dutch supermarket chain Hoogvliet, and has proven to be successful in helping customers choose the best wine for their dish. However, finding the bottle you’re looking for on a wine shelf that’s often 10 meters long can be a real challenge. WineStein understood this problem, so the LED screens on the wine shelf not only advise customers on which wine to buy, but also show their location on the shelf. No more losing time (and money) trying to find the right wine!
