At the Communication & Multimedia Design (CMD) Amsterdam – part of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA) – students learn how to think and act like designers, and aims to give its interactive media design graduates the best possible preparation for today’s – and tomorrow’s – professional practice.

At the end of the academic year CMD organizes the annual Golden Dot Awards (GDA) for the best and most creative projects students have worked on. This year the event took place in De Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam last Wednesday, with around 200 talented students.

Before the award show students had the chance to meet a selection of agencies from the industry and could talk about job opportunities. And because Edenspiekermann (Sander Wehkamp) is one of the members of the advisory board of the HvA we were invited to join this event. We were amazed by all the work and talent!

From all the nominees four awards were handed out to the best and most creative work at the award show. The project of Ted Voorend surprised us the most, no wonder he was one of the winners this year. He made an installation which uses the gyroscope sensor of a smartphone to control the led lights and video. A great combination of light and technology. Watch a video of his work and you can also see his installation at several festivals now.

Congrats to all the nominees and winners and keep up the good work. It was nice meeting you all. And we’re already looking forward meeting the next enthusiastic talents during the GDA next year!
