Say Hi to... Jasmine Lee

Say Hi to Jasmine Lee

We asked Visual Designer Jasmine Lee about design envy, the best lunch in town and her take on Heritage Chic. Here’s what we found out.

What’s for lunch today?

Pho & bubble tea. On Joo Chiat Road, where our office is located, there are a couple of Pho shops—I could eat it every day! Bubble tea is a beverage that originated from Taiwan and has subsequently become popular in Singapore. It consists of milk or fruit tea with toppings like chewy tapioca pearls or jelly.

Do you have a nickname?

Jasmine green tea. It started when I was 7, thankfully nobody calls me that anymore!

What’s next on your reading list?

How to Use Graphic Design to Sell Things, Explain Things, Make Things Look Better, Make People Laugh, Make People Cry, and (Every Once in a While) Change the World, by Michael Bierut.

What (or who) do you want to be when you grow up?

A designer by day and a band keyboardist by night!

What do you hope to learn at Edenspiekermann?

I want to learn to work more collaboratively with clients and team members, and also how to design more broadly and holistically for brands. Lastly, there is also much wisdom to gather from hearing the stories of more experienced colleagues.

What’s on your bucket list?

Someday I’d like to do a US road trip from coast to coast!

What’s your take on the “heritage chic” trend in Asia?

What’s your least favorite brand experience?

When I see a really nice photo of a burger on an ad, but when I order it, what’s on my tray just doesn’t match up to the photo or my expectations.

The logo or album cover you wish you’d designed?

The Nike swoosh by Carolyn Davidson is my favorite logo—it’s so simple and so strong.

Who should we interview next, and why?

Kelvin Chow. Because he might tell you where to find the best food in Singapore.
