Say Hi to... Luke

Say Hi to Luke_Penguin_Edenspiekermann

We asked Interaction Designer, Luke Veerman, about secrets, design envy, and his take on Hillary vs Trump. See what we found out.

What’s in your Netflix queue right now?

I think I’m the only one who doesn’t have a Netflix account! I get my TV the old fashioned way. At the moment I’m watching Peaky Blinders, about a gangster family in the 1920s.

The logo, album cover or print you wish you’d designed?

Currents by Tame Impala. First of all, because it’s a great album, and secondly because I have no idea how they designed it and that intrigues me.

Tell us a secret.

I’m currently learning how to do a handstand.

Hillary or Trump?

Hillary, not that I think she’s the ideal candidate, but because everything is better than Trump. He’s fascinating, though: how he still gets the support of voters, because everything he does or says is so out of the ordinary. He seems to get away with it—how does he pull that off?!

What’s your take on art and design?

I’m always more interested in design because it’s about problem solving. I’m fascinated with how things work and how to come up with creative solutions.

What’s your favourite GIF right now?

Deal with it

What brought you to Edenspiekermann?

It’s one of the most ambitious and professional design agencies I know and also happens to think about design in the same way as I do.

Here’s a Post-It note. Draw your favorite animal.

He drew the penguin.

Have you got a nickname?

Most people just call me Luke, but I’ve heard pretty much every variation on Luke you can think of. Lucky, Luca, Luca Brasi, Luca Toni, Loekie, Luke Skywalker..

Name one thing on your bucket list?

To go to space! I’m not sure if I will ever achieve it. But one other things is to go to South Africa, which I’m actually doing in December.

What or who do you want to be when you grow up?

A part of me still believes it’s possible to become a professional football player.

Who from our team should we interview next, and why?

Kay, I’m really curious about his answers on these questions. Because he has quite a way with words...

Thank you, Luke! Let’s see who’s next. Stay tuned.
